This Ostrich is part of an ambitious, ongoing project by Edinburgh based artist, Patrizio Belcampo. Anticipated to take a number of years to finish, the end result will be a full Avian Alphabet. Hand screen-printed in a limited edition of only 50.
At 2.5m tall, the ostrich is the world’s largest and heaviest bird, though they are also very muscular and can sprint as fast as 70 km/h!
This print demonstrates the artist’s technical skill, eye for colour, composition and fondness for re-interpreting existing traditions. The screen-printed series references the Victorian’s fascination of documenting and cataloguing, whilst portraying a sense of depth, texture and movement from a minimal palette.
57 x 57 cm
Patrizio was born in Ravenna, North-Eastern Italy and he has lived and worked in Edinburgh since 2003 and graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 2011.
