This is a linocut / screen print entitled ‘Donkey Monolith No.12’ printed in dark grey, light teal and orange.
This is from James’s second series of prints featuring donkeys exploring a sculptural landscape. He created the prints originally for his first major solo exhibition, entitled ‘Donkey Nonsense’ at The Millennium Gallery in Sheffield in 2023.
He has created a lot of donkey-themed prints over the years, as he feels drawn towards their modest nature. James likes to celebrate them and imagine them have all sorts of interesting times and adventures when not being watched or bothered by anyone.
Dark grey, light blue and yellow inks on Antique White Seawhite 280gsm acid-free paper. From an edition of only 12, signed, stamped, titled and numbered.
The paper measures H59.4xW42cm.
Hand-printed in Sheffield, UK. Each one is slightly different, as is the nature with screen-prints.
