Waverley Station Winchin Spot 4 – A3 Print by Elise Bell
‘Winchin Spots’ is a collection of works surrounding seemingly insignificant places and moments, shared with a significant other.
Inspired by Elise’s Granny Brenda when she pointed out where she and grandad “used to winch” when they began courting in the 1950s.
This is a celebration of young love (however long ago this was), old loves, first kisses – and both the iconic and mundane locations these kisses occurred.
A moment in time shared with the one you’re head over heels with – or only just like a wee bit. The person you intend to grow old with, a future wife-to-be, or the person you’ve just met on the dance floor.
Maybe your best friend’s older brother, or the stranger you see every morning at your favourite cafe, or on the number 49 bus. Everything in between – drunken kisses or otherwise.
* “Winch” – to french kiss someone (‘geez a winch’)
to court, sweetheart, or keep company with someone.
