Clare O'Neill

Clare is a textile artist living on Ashdown Forest, East Sussex. With a background in studying textile design at art schools in London and Surrey, she creates mixed media paintings that showcase her love of nature and wildlife. She has developed an exclusive giftware range featuring greeting cards, stationery and gifts.

Clare takes much of her inspiration from the natural surroundings of where she lives, capturing the seasonal changes and gathering materials from walks on the forest with her daughter and trusty pug, Sniff.

She is a keen collector, and surrounds herself with an eclectic mix of items throughout her home. Clare says she takes great pleasure in these items, which she sources from near and far: anywhere from local boot fairs and yard sales to antique centres around the world.

Never one to follow the “less is more” approach, Clare finds, by decorating her home with objects she loves it allows her to further express her creative side, and this is also reflected in her work. Intricate layers of newspaper, collage and scripts are all elements she returns to, again and again.

Clare’s work has been described as organic, whimsical and rustic.
